Last week Justin Bieber cancelled the remaining shows of his eighteen month tour, after performing for nearly two years and doing over 150 shows, the pop star said he was exhausted and just needed a break. This week, former One Direction member, Louis Tomlinson, basically said while it's important to be in a good place mentally, he should just finish the tour.
People close to Bieber have said “He’s been going to church and has been hanging out with his church crew. He’s super exhausted though,” and that “He actually does like being on tour, but he’s been touring for 18 months straight and it takes a toll.”
Today the ladies of The View have stepped in to defend him.
Whoopi Goldberg started the discussion by saying “Why do pop stars have mental breakdowns constantly? I’ll tell you: Because it’s a lot of work to be them. It really is. And also, he’s exhausted. I don’t do 18 months on the road because it’s horrifying. You’re in a different place every other night. It’s a lot. And sometimes it gets the best of you.”
Jedediah Bila argued, “I don’t think these celebrities have to explain themselves to everyone all the time just because they’re famous. I feel like at the end of the day, they’re just people. The same way like I have to take care of me first. If I don’t take care of me, I can’t come here and do this job. He needs to take care of him first, before he can tend to fans or expectations. And if he needs a minute, he’s entitled to take a minute no matter what.”
Then Whoopi went onto not just defend Justin, but also throw a little shade at Tomlinson, saying “It’s tough, and to be a rock and roll star or a rap star or someone who fills stadium every night by themselves and they have to keep everything going… It’s a lot. When you love what you do, it’s great. But sometimes, you do need a break. To judge Justin Bieber for saying this is what he needs to do, for him to say you don’t do that, you don’t know that. You haven’t been him. You don’t walk in his shoes. Back up!”
