Say goodbye to the NBA's Development League and say hello to the G League... the G standing for Gatorade that is. The league's newest re-branding venture partners them up with Gatorade just as the NBA draft season comes to a close. G League President Malcolm turner had this to say in reference to the change:
"We're thrilled with this exciting new chapter for our league. We're thrilled with the new brand identity and excited with this week in particular to make the announcement. First-round draft picks played in this league the past season, 22 second-round draft picks, so we've already been a big story line in draft week because our league is an effective, efficient place to develop talent."
This deal will further help players as they will benefit from being a part of the Gatorade sports Science Institute that helps players find out how to get the most from their bodies. The G League plans to be the experimental grounds for the continuation of positive progress in the NBA.
