In recent days a video of teary-eyed, Knoxville middle schooler Keaton Jones has been circulating throughout social media. Apparently, Jones has been being bullied in school and his mother, Kimberly Jones, caught it all on video after picking him up because he was to afraid to go to lunch. Kids had been pouring milk on him and calling him ugly due to the scars left behind from a tumor operation. In the video Keaton says:
“Just out of curiosity, why do they bully? What’s the point of it? Why do you find joy in taking innocent people and finding a way to be mean to ’em? It’s not okay. It’s not okay! People that are different don’t need to be criticized about it. It’s not their fault. They make fun of my nose. They call me ugly. They say I have no friends.”
Since the video surfaced many celebrities have chimed in showing their love and support for Keaton. However, many people are growing very upset with Keaton's mother who posted this on FaceBook:
Many are calling her racist and unsympathetic to the struggle of minorities who like her son are trying to stand up against conditions that have been unfairly placed upon them. According to sources Mom is a bully herself. She has been seen on FaceBook posting hateful comments in reference to religion, ethnicity and sexual orientation. Others are also stating this is just a haux and way to raise money for the holidays as Ms. Jones recently created a GoFundMe page. What do you think? We all know that bullying in any form is wrong and fully sympathize with Keaton. However, do you think his mother is hypocritical?
