Atlanta - Thursday evening around 7pm a section of the northbound lanes on I-85 collapsed. Various sources report a fire underneath part of the highway being the possible cause. Thankfully, there were no deaths caused by this incident however they are expecting this to cause significant traffic issues (CNN).
They say that this highway transports up to about 250,000 cars per day, such a significant amount that Georgoa's Governor Nathan Deal thought it best to declare a state of emergency on Thursday night for Fulton County. According to CBSNews, Deputy Insurance Commissioner Jay Florence stated Sophia Broner, Barry Thomas and Basil Eleby were arrested on Friday. Broner and Thomas are being charged with trespassing, while Eleby is being charged with first-degree criminal damage to property.
