Nine people are presumed dead after A Puerto Rico Air National Guard Plane cashed and burst into flames on a busy GA highway around 11:30am just miles away from a GA airport. (See video)
The crash sent drivers on a frenzy as people watched the plane suddenly go down followed by huge flames and smoke. Luckily no cars were hit in the crash, one truck driver even called the pilot a hero given he was able to dodge the grounds he worked on because they handle hazardous materials which would have caused a major explosion.
The aircraft was in Savannah for a routine maintenance prior to leaving for a training mission to Arizona the day of the crash. At this time the cause of the crash is and identifies of the persons aboard unknown.
Puerto Rico’s Governor Ricardo Rosselló sent his condolences in light of the news he said "While we are waiting for more information regarding this unfortunate accident, my thoughts and those of Beatriz are with the families of the crew. They will receive our support and that of the National Guard of Puerto Rico in this process, "
