Team ShayStar presents Lakeisha Richardson, but better known on stages to all as "Kiva". Kiva was born in Atlanta, Georgia on August 9, 1991 (giving her the same birthday as the legendary Whitney Houston). In her early years she was raised by her grandmother while her mother attended college in Knoxville, Tennessee. At the age of just 2-years-old she was relocated to Memphis, TN with her mother and this is where she would begin to first discover her love for music.
At the age of 3 Kiva would dance to the smooth sounds and vocals of Sade and by the age of 8 she was belting out songs by gospel music greats Yolanda Adams and Cece Winans. Kiva states that her musical influences are Sade, Aaliyah, Beyonce, Tamia, Toni Braxton, KeKe Wyatt and Whitney Houston. She has been blessed with huge opportunities over the years, one of which was singing to Larry Dodson of the Bar-Kays over the phone when she was 14. Then, in 2011 she competed in Johnny Wright's online reality show "OnTheSpot" where she advanced to the top 20 and even was able to sing to celebrity vocal coach Doc Holiday (even he was extremely impressed).
Kiva released her very first single in 2012 titled "Make Believe". Later on she also had the chance to work with grammy nominated singer Toni Braxton's brother Michael Braxton, Jr. Her newest single is a very sexy slow jam called "Do You Right" feat. Patrick Harden (audio and video teaser below). Kiva is an independent artist who is surely rising to greatness, her humbleness and dedication to her craft speak volumes to that.
